Assisting at three levels - community individuals, groups, and the services that support them.

  1. Individual level: as a qualified counsellor and coach, I work with individuals in the field of personal development and professional development.

  2. Groups: I am a keen advocate of action learning :bringing groups together around a common issue, facilitating their interaction, then helping them towards action.

A groundbreaking project is the formation and facilitation of a group of young people based at All Saints RC School in York- 'Action Minds' - which embarked on establishing an early intervention mental health intervention within the school. Action Minds were awarded the 2016 'Spirit of Youth' Award, sponsored by Nestle. Our work has also been cited by Sir Michael Wilshaw, Chief Inspector of Schools in England, as an excellent example of best practice to foster wellbeing. Our work has benefited from the kind support offered by the Wilderness Oak charity since April 2014.

Past projects have also included developing positive role models, community involvement of young people, intergenerational work with the 'Guns and Gangs' initiatives and positive activities in the North, young person involvement in evaluation of services and fostering their own development.

  3. Organisational level: working with the development of services.
In particular, using soft systems methodology to enable cooperation and participation in both design, development and evaluation of services, especially where there is extensive partnership working. Recent projects have been for Community Safety and Involvement, Youth Justice, Third Sector workforce development, evaluation and research for the National Youth Agency.
